Description
Kai Wang and Matthew Daly, PhD students within the Molecular Allergology group headed by Professor Clare Mills, have collaborated with the Co-op to deliver food allergy awareness teaching materials to academies within the North-West. Six sessions will be given at Co-op academies to secondary school students aged 11-16 years over six weeks of teaching to coincide with allergy awareness week (26th-30th April). Kai and Matthew contributed two sessions; “The impact of food allergy: how much is too much?” And “Cleaning after allergens: how clean is clean enough?” These materials were delivered as a powerpoint presentation with accompanying audio to be shown at the academies, describing how food allergy is diagnosed and how we can calculate threshold doses, and how to detect residual allergens remaining after cleaning using a lateral flow test.Period | 26 Apr 2021 → 30 Apr 2021 |
