Description
This session was linked to the exhibition 'Burning Bright: William Blake and the Art of the Book' at the John Rylands Library. The tour explored Blake’s fascination with the Gothic, inspired by the neo-Gothic architecture of The John Rylands Library in which the exhibition 'Burning Bright' was set.
It offered participants another perspective on selected items in the exhibition and provided the opportunity to other see items from the collection in a close up encounter. This included work by Blake himself and by others interested in various aspects of the Gothic to weave a narrative between Blake and the library building.
Ideas explored in this session have been incorporated into the online version of the exhibition (see my 2013 Research Outputs).
