Description

I was a consultant on one of the opening pieces for Coventry UK City of Culture 2021 - Coventry Moves Together - composed by Dan Jones of Sound & Fury Theatre Company (https://soundandfury.co.uk). The piece premiered on 5 June 2021 and is also available to stream on BBC Sounds for a full year (https://www.bbc.co.uk/sounds/play/p09kntd7). The composition was inspired, in part, by Delia Derbyshire and features the voices of Coventry schoolchildren. Coventry residents were invited to play the piece through their own radio sets from their front doorsteps, turning the city into a giant site-specific sound installation.

Originally broadcast at 20:21 on radio stations: Arawak; BBC CWR; Block Radio; Fresh Radio; Hillz FM; Radio Abbey; Radio Panj; Radio Plus and Vanny FM, who all played an individual stream of music simultaneously across the city.
