Creating sustainable communities: How can we build infrastructure fit for the future?

• Professor Ian Mell, Professor of Environmental & Landscape Planning, and author of Positioning green infrastructure as essential infrastructure in the UK
• Dr Claire Hoolohan, Senior Lecturer at the Tyndall Centre for Climate Change Research, and co-author of Water reuse for sustainable practices in new housing infrastructure

This event is to promote the recently released publication, “On Infrastructure”, to raise awareness of the research included and have a meaningful conversation about the key challenges decision-makers face on infrastructure policy and how we can create a resilient and sustainable future.

The audience is expected to be predominantly made up of attendees from GM local authorities and some of the Government Departments with offices in the North West. Each panellist will be invited by the chair to make opening remarks for 3-5 minutes based around the question “How can we build infrastructure fit for the future?”. We ask that you focus your contribution around the research and recommendations from your article in “On Infrastructure”. The session will then be opened for audience questions.
