Description
Delia Derbyshire Day 2016 took place at HOME, Manchester and focused on the relationship between electronic music and visual art.Funded by the Arts Council of England, Granada Foundation and the University of Manchester's Social Impact fund, the event featured participatory workshops for children and families on creating electronic music from found sounds, screenings of rare art films with music and sound by Delia Derbyshire (including a remastered edition of a film not seen in public since the early 1980s), a panel discussion featuring the pioneering video artist Madelon Hooykaas who collaborated with Delia in the 1970s, performances of new work commissioned for the event including a new collage of audio from the Delia Derbyshire Archive by David Butler with accompanying visuals on 35mm film by Mary Stark.
