• To provide an insight into the origins of the dental profession and the world's first recorded dentist.
• To indicate that the dental remedies and treatments of the ancient Egyptian civilization suggest that the sources of some of the modern therapies lay in the distant past.
• To indicate that the same dental diseases have been present with man over the millennia, but the incidence of these diseases varies considerably with changing dietary, cultural and environmental factors.
• How examinations of the surviving dentitions and their associated structures are able to provide not only evidence for the dental health of the individual, but also provide indicators of general health and economic conditions prevalent at that time.
