Description

This talk and round table examined the contemporary situation with regard to musical tourism in Georgia in the guise of song-study-tours and summer camps attended by Georgian singing enthusiasts from overseas. It considered the motivations, experiences and transformations relating to encounters between song-learning guests and their Georgian hosts, and identified the broader benefits and challenges associated with this particular form of cultural tourism. These trends were discussed within the broader context of critical themes and issues in the anthropology of tourism.
