Guest Editor for Better Methods to Address Health Inequalities in Youth Mental Health Research (Aug 2023-Aug 2024)Submissions from across the disciplines are invited to share innovation and excellence in qualitative and mixed methods to address health inequalities in youth mental health research.
Well-designed research can create novel platforms for collaboration, knowledge generation, and new ways of working and thinking. Research that assertively seeks to learn from the experiences of under-served groups to tackle health inequalities could promote improved research practices and drive meaningful change for the landscape of young people’s mental health.
Exploring better methods for inclusive, rigorous, and collaborative approaches to mental health research with young people, families and service providers can help us learn from each other, develop new ways of working, and increase the quality and impact of our work.
This special edition invites brave new ways of employing a variety of qualitative and mixed methods to tackle health inequalities in mental health research with young people. We know structural inequalities in societies are often reflected in children’s services and many disciplines of research. This special edition seeks to explore how better methods could offer new opportunities for collaboration, perspective taking, and support for young people’s mental health.
