Leadership of International Baccalaureate International Schools and Global Citizenship Education as Leadership (Declined due to Climate Crisis)

Description

This was an invited keynote presentation for the International Baccalaureate Educators' Conference (IBEC) at Melbourne University in April 2020. The topic was on Educational Leadership in IB international schools, and how the crisis of Climate Change, Inequity, and the post truth digital world require a new set of leadership attributes in line with a rapidly overheating world. Due to the worsening effects of the climate crisis and Australia’s devastating bushfires, I was left no other moral choice but to decline this kind offer due to the significant carbon footprint involved in flying halfway around the world. Educators must model behaviour, not just talk about it. I am indebted to the team at the University of Melbourne, especially Nicky Dulfer.
