This talk outlined my research into music's relationship of time. Starting with the binary positions of Heraclitus (Time as Change) and Plato (Time as Eternity), and then moving to Roger Penrose's concepts as outlined in his 2010 book, Cycles of Time, I discussed music's paradoxical relationship with time and entropy on the one hand, and human memory on the other, and how this has informed my approach to musical structure.
