Music in Mind: Webinar

Activity: Participating in or organising event(s)Participating in a conference, workshop, exhibition, performance, inquiry, course etcResearch

Description

In this webinar, researchers shared the key findings from the study “The Impact of an Improvised Music-Making Training Programme on Care Home Staff Wellbeing: A Process Evaluation,” funded by the National Institute for Health and Care Research (https://www.sscr.nihr.ac.uk/) School for Social Care Research.

The session featured insights from The University of Manchester research team, the Manchester Camerata Orchestra (https://manchestercamerata.co.uk/), and the Open Doors Research Group, a self-advocacy group of people living with dementia in Greater Manchester.

The research focused on the impact of the online Music in Mind training programme for care home staff, exploring its effects on staff wellbeing. Using a range of creative research methods like online training session observations and staff interviews, the team developed a "theory of change" model to identify key factors that enhance practice and wellbeing in social care. Watch the full webinar to explore these findings and the implications for impacting care practices.
