Description

Gathering of the Klezmorim of Manchester - a fundraising event for the Sha'arei Shalom Reform Synagogue (which also hosted the event) as organised in 2 x 45 minute sets. These included a variety of 'acts' including: the Groys Orchestar generated through the Klezmer Tune Club; a subset of generation #13 of the Michael Kahan Kapelye (The University of Manchester's klezmer ensemble); Odd Schlocks (exploring the meeting of swing and klezmer); a subset of the band for the show Amid the Mirk Over the Irk: When Irish Meets klezmer; and the folk group Shir Chadesh from a nearby shul singing from the liturgy. the sell-out event had 125 paying audience members plus 20 musicians.
