Pint of Science is a festival that takes place in May each year with the aim of encouraging researchers to engage members of the general public in accessible places across the UK and beyond. As part of the ’Creative Reactions’ strand, which highlights collaboration between art and science, Dr. Nick Weise was invited to present work on the sonification of DNA sequences used in current research. The initiative was presented as a talk detailing biological principles such as heterologous gene expression and codon optimisation, with sound clips from a joint concert organised by the Manchester Institute of Biotechnology and the Royal Northern College of Music
