Description
The (eternally) fading memories of international schooling in whiteness, privilege, and systemic injustice
History and international teaching
• International teaching has a long history • Much of it rooted in an Anglo- European model of the world as the preferred vision for the world • We casually accept these norms because they are the doxa of advantage • Generally, International schools continue to replicate injustices that most staff are blind to.
The organizational and staffing reality aligned with a skewed representation of diversity actively facilitates casual racism. It requires continual, attention to ensure that these are addressed at the system level, and not misrecognized at the individual level.
