Backhaus The first-ever complete English translation of volumes I and II of Werner Sombart, Der moderne Kapitalismus, Vols. I and II. 4th ed. (Munich and Leipzig: Duncker & Humblot, 1921/1928). My contribution to the project as editor was fundamental (c. 50 per cent). I completely revised the original translation of vols. I/1-2 and II/1, produced by Karl-Friedrich Geiser (Political Economy Professor at Oberlin College), submitted in 1941 to Princeton University Press.
