Sustainable plant-based electronic materials for printed electronics

Keynote Speech
To realize low-cost, environmentally friendly electronic devices and circuits, there is currently a strong trend to explore plant-based dielectric materials because they can be responsibly sourced from agricultural or forest vegetation, are generally water-processable, and possess good electrical insulator properties. In this talk, I will discuss the motivation behind the use of naturally occurring electronic materials in electronic devices, explain the engineering and operation of thin film transistors (TFTs), and show several examples of state-of-the-art ultra-low voltage solution-processed TFTs using natural gums as the gate dielectric.
