Dhruba Borah worked as visiting Research fellow at United Nations Asia and Pacific Center for Technology Transfer (UN APCTT), New Delhi for a period of three months, where he submitted a technical report titled "Critical Evaluation of Government funded schemes for promoting Innovation among SMEs in India ". This report critically evaluates the design and delivery mechanisms of four Government of India sponsored schemes that aim to stimulate innovation among Indian SMEs: “Design Clinic Scheme”, “Technology Development & Demonstration Programme”, “Contract Research Scheme” and “Revolving Technology Fund”. Based on 20 semi-structured interviews with SMEs, policymakers and public research organizations and secondary data, this report suggests several recommendations to Indian policymakers.
