Twitter has helped scientists to understand the less serious side-effects of medicines doctors tend not to forewarn patients about, a study has found.

Researchers at the University of Manchester identified 159,297 tweets mentioning the steroid prednisolone, which is often administered to treat allergies, blood disorders, skin diseases and certain cancers by reducing inflamation.
