    Press/Media: Expert comment

    Description

If aliens are sending messages to us here on Earth, a team in Cheshire will soon be in charge of the biggest listening device on the planet.

The radio telescope at Jodrell Bank has been at the centre of a host of space discoveries for decades. Now, a deal has been signed to build a telescope so big it'll spread over two continents.

Thousands of dishes will be built in South Africa and Australia. But they'll be run from Jodrell.
