Press/Media: Research

Description

An Insight for GNET's 16 Days of Activism series focusing on r/IncelExit and its potential for helping users disengage from misogynist incel communities. My doctoral work shows promising narrative shifts for users as they work to exit these spaces, with increasing agency and self-worth as potential avenues for countering the nihilism of the black pill. However, I question whether this space can contribute to a lasting shift in misogynist beliefs, drawing on users' exit stories alongside three high-profile exits to illustrate this concern.
