Lost Tapes of the Dr Who Composer

Press/Media: Expert comment

Description

BBC news item (also broadcast on Radio 4's PM programme) covering the announcement of the Delia Derbyshire Archive at the University of Manchester and the work being carried out on the archive by David Butler.

The title of the news item is misleading - Delia Derbyshire did not compose the Doctor Who theme tune!  Instead, Delia realised Ron Grainer's composition, in 1963, but arranged it in an extraordinary manner that astonished Grainer and generations of audiences since!
