NIHR In-Practice Fellow wins RCGP award for innovative work

Congratulations to Jung Yin Tsang, GP and NIHR In-Practice Fellow at the University of Manchester who has recently received a GP Specialty Trainee Award 2021 from the Royal College of General Practitioners (RCGP) for original and innovative work undertaken during GP specialty training.

Jung Yin led on several pieces of work to produce national guidance for post-discharge care following acute kidney injury (AKI), including the enhancement of a practical online toolkit for patients and practitioners (http://www.rcgp.org.uk/aki). AKI is a common marker of severe illness, associated with poor outcomes including rehospitalisation and mortality. The guidance includes recommendations about timeliness of clinical review after discharge, based upon AKI stage, clinical risk factors and degree of kidney function recovery.
