In the introduction to the book “Contemporary Ukrainian Crafts”, I focused on the trending popularity of craft in the context of Ukraine. During existential threats that society has been experiencing since 2014, the study of traditions becomes a question of fortifying the nation. Preserving everything Ukrainian is not merely about conservation but also about shaping and envisioning the nation's image, and discovering its identity in the handicraft traditions of the past.
