Think your efforts to help the climate don’t matter? African philosophers disagree

Press/Media: Expert comment

Description

When we think of climate action, the first thing that comes to mind is large-scale collection action projects led by governments, international organisations, and big corporations. This focus is primarily based on the idea that individual climate actions are too insignificant to make any difference. To some, they're pointless. This mindset is disempowering. My article on The Conversation UK addresses this challenge and shows why individual climate actions are not pointless.

The urgent task for philosophers and environmentalists is to provide them with those motivations. This is where African philosophy is helpful."
