Description
DESY-HERA. Measurement of the inclusive deep inelastic E+ P scattering cross section in the Q**2 range 1.5 to 150 GeV**2 and X range 0.00003 to 0.2. The data were taken during the 1996 and 1997 HERA running periods and amount to an integrated luminosity of 20 pb-1. The proton structure function F2 and its logarithmic slope is extracted together with the longitudinal structure function FL to typically 1 PCT statistical and 3 PCT systematic uncertainties. From this data, combined with previous H1 data a value of ALPHAS at the Z0 mass is determined to be 0.1150 +- 0.0017 (exp) +0.0009,-0.0005 (model) in NLO with an additional +-0.005 error mainly due to the uncertainty in the renormalization scale.
