Diffractive open charm production in deep-inelastic scattering and photoproduction at HERA

    DESY-HERA. Measurements of the cross sections for diffractive open charm production in collisions of 27.6 GeV positrons with 920 GeV protons corresponding to a centre-of-mass energy of 318 GeV. The event topology is ep-& gt;eXY where the system X contains at least one charmed hadron separated by a large rapidity gap from a leading low-mass proton remnant system Y. Two analysis techniques are used. One in which the charm quark is tagged by the reconstruction of a D*+- meson is used both in DIS and photoproduction, and a second used in DIS is based on thedisplacement of tracks from the primary vertex. The data were taken during the 1999 and 2000 running periods with 47.0 pb-1 for the D* analysis and 48.3 for the displaced track analysis.
