This workshop session took place at the ITE/ECT 2025 Annual PGCE Conference Inclusion & Inspiration - Education for Social Justice. 17 January 2025. University of Manchester. In this session, Edda provided practical advice and resources to all teachers who, regardless of their specialism, wished to promote democracy in their teaching. For this, she addressed three key questions: (1) why should teachers promote democracy? (2) what teaching and assessment methods can be used to promote democracy?, and (3) what are the challenges of promoting democracy? In a context where teachers are expected to promote democracy, this session aimed to increase participants understanding, ability, and confidence to consider democratic education in your practices.
