    Additive Manufacturing and Deposition

The additive manufacturing and deposition grouping has a large set of printing facilities compatible to those used in industrial production. Due to the similar issues and hurdles concerning ink development, drop-substrate interaction and feature resolution that have common physical origins the range of equipment has been selected to allow work in all areas of digital printing including:

Materials deposition - Understanding how inkjet printer drops behave on a range of solid and porous surfaces (including paper and textiles). Drop shape is strongly influenced by the properties of the interfaces present and also by the proximity of neighbouring drops.
Bioprinting – The availability of a controlled and well-defined scaffold structures is key to the advancement of tissue engineering, cell based microreactors and biosensors. Expertise in the deposition of both cells via inkjet technologies and the generation of tissue scaffolds through additive manufacturing methods such as extrusion and stereolithography.
Materials Formulation - Designing and testing materials for suitability in both 2D and 3D printing machines across a variety of disciplines.

    Fibre Technology
The fibre technology grouping includes a variety of electrospinning equipment ranging from material development units to large scale units with environmental controls. This sits within the Royce Fibre technologies platform.
