Description

The Photon Science Institute Is home to a large variety of laser systems for facilitating wide ranging research topics encompassing fundamental photon-matter interactions, photovoltaics, photonics, optical and electron spectroscopy and imaging science. The laser sources span wavelengths from the deep UV to the far infrared, and from continuous-wave output to sub 50-fs pulse duration.
The systems include

-a large variety of CW laser diode sources panning mw-W power levels, readily deployable and reconfigurable for a wide range ofspectroscopic applications
- Tuneable and Stabilised Ring-cavity narrow-linewidth laser systems, sub-50Kejian Houz linewidths for precision measurements including atomic physics and quantum optics. Thes include Dye lasers for alternate emission ranges, and stabilised second harmonic generation cavities for output upconversion.

- nanosecond pulsed Nd:YAG lasers, with pulse energies as high as 4J. Many of these systems include second to fourth harmonic generation, others include optical parametric oscillators for broad wavelength tuning. Some are used to pump tunable narrow bandwidth dye lasers

-a number Ultrafast laser sources including modelocked Oscillators, regenerative amplifiers, and Optical parametric amplifiers, utilised for ultrafast time resolved spectroscopy and nonlinear optics.

- Two fluorine Excimer lasers for pulsed Vacuum-UV laser emission.
- a number of He-Cd lasers for CW excitation in the near-UV
