Details

Description

We support scientific laboratory and field work for researchers and students across the school, including Geography, Planning, and PGCE Teacher Training with wide range of analytical equipment and methods.

We have specialist capabilities in the analysis of environmental samples for bulk and trace chemical composition, facilities for the measurement of organic carbon throughout the carbon cycle, and for the analysis of nutrients and pollutants in environmental waters. We have considerable expertise in and facilities for quantifying and analysing microplastic contamination in the environment.

We have specialist equipment for the analysis of sedimentary records, including geochemical, geophysical and biological methods. We have particular expertise in XRF core-scanning, palynology and chironomids from Holocene and late-glacial sequences.

We have a broad range of equipment for fieldwork, including a wide variety of samplers for terrestrial and aquatic systems, environmental sensors, surveying equipment, and air quality monitoring.
