Manchester is one of 14 European institutions involved in the EASTN-DC project, which focuses on research, technology development, creation and education in the field of technologies applied to artistic creation.
The project aims to encourage and develop partnerships between academic experts in the field of digital creativity, industry professionals, and members of the public.
The first major event for the project was a week-long cultural showcase held in June 2018, hosted in Manchester by NOVARS.
It involved demonstrations, presentations, interactive concerts, and hands-on workshops to introduce a wide range of creative outputs and technologies to participants, centring on the research outputs of the NOVARS research community.
A hub event was also held at HOME Manchester, to enable networking between entrepreneurs, SMEs, digital creativity enthusiasts and academics, allowing them to explore ways in which research outputs in digital creativity can be adapted for commercial application.
