From 2014 - 2020, the History Lessons and Our Migration Story projects have co-ordinated a wide range of stakeholders to promote the development of an inclusive history curriculum in British schools. The primary impact is on understanding, learning and participation, and engaging public and policy understandings, as part of the wider call to ‘decolonise’ the history curriculum, in three areas:
1. increased capacity of teachers and young people, stimulating learning and changing classroom teaching practice; 2. increased institutional capacity in history education through collaboration with cultural and educational institutions, exam boards and the third sector; 3. informed public debate/public awareness and political policy formation with a particular focus on Black British history and the history of migration/empire.
