Narrative
As a result of the action-research Fairwork project, gig work platforms in a number of global South countries made substantive improvements in pay and conditions for their workers. Fairwork has developed a framework of five principles of decent gig work – fair pay, conditions, contracts, management and representation – and, with two possible points per principle, rates platforms out of a maximum score of ten each year. Publicity given to these scores and interaction with the Fairwork research team has led platforms to make improvements to worker pay and conditions, and thereby improve their scores.Impact date | 2019 → 2023 |
