This is evidence based guidance on improving interprofessional practice between AMHPs and Interpreters involved in carrying out the statutory duties under the Mental Health Act 1983 that may result in compulsory detention of a person who is severely mentally ill and a risk to themselves and others. It provides the first practice guidance and numerous learning resources to address the lack of training and lack of quality standards in these circumstances.
