Living Library - ESRC festival of Social Science

Impact: Societal impacts

Narrative

A Living Library event is a way to bring people together and share life experiences.
Our volunteers are the ‘books’ on the Living Library shelf, each one with many stories to tell of their experiences of ageing. Members of the public are able to ‘borrow’ a book for fifteen minutes and find out more about those life stories, particularly focusing on issue of change and transition in later life. These personal indiviudal stories are contrasted with banners presenting population statistics on health, wealth and partnership in later life, with boths ources of infornation in their own way shattering stereotypes on ageing.
