Narrative
The mission of ‘Open Doors’ is to literally “opens doors” for people with dementia and carers to support the delivery, development and innovation of dementia services, education and research within Salford. This is an innovation of national interest and has been supported by Salford PCT as well as the Division of Nursing, Midwifery and Social Work, The University of Manchester. Open Doors has been involved in a number of studies and publication, including the ESRC/NIHR Neighbourhoods and dementia study. The Open Doors Research Group was established in 2011 and in March 2019, at the end of the ESRC/NIHR Neighbourhoods and dementia study, the Group had 45 people with dementia (with and without capacity) and care partners acting as co-researchers. Open Doors through Cathy Riley at Greater Manchester Mental Health NHS Foundation Trust, continues to be involved in projects, such as the NIHR SSCR Music in Mind Remote study (June 2022 for 18 months).Related content
