Biography

Before joining Manchester, Dr Tahir served as a member of parliament in Somalia, where he chaired the house committee for roads, ports, airports, energy, and transport. Dr Tahir was also the deputy chair for policies and strategies at the Union for Peace and Development Party (UPD). Outside politics, Dr Tahir worked as a researcher, consultant, and development practitioner in various institutions in and beyond Somalia. Dr Tahir’s current research interests focus on urban politics and governance. He also has a keen interest in regional geopolitics and its implications for development.
