Overview

Doctoral researcher in Earth Science

Biography

Abdulquadri is a dedicated researcher with experience carrying out geological studies across three continents: Africa, Europe, and the Middle East on geothermal, CCUS, and hydrocarbon reservoirs. His research stretches across different fields but mainly focuses on carbonate reservoir characterization, sedimentology, stratigraphy, diagenesis, and pore network distribution. He has published numerous papers in internationally recognized Q1 peer-reviewed journals and currently serves as a reviewer for a couple of others including the Journal of Petroleum Science and Engineering; the Journal of Petroleum Exploration and Production Technology and the Petroleum Geoscience Journal. Abdulquadri has spent a couple of years researching carbonate reservoirs at Khalifa University, Abu Dhabi focusing on the origin, stratigraphic development, diagenesis, and reservoir quality of the Thamama Group of Reservoirs, emphasizing their impact on macropores and micropores evolution. For this research, he integrated innovative techniques such as micro-computed tomography (Micro-CT scan) and Nano-computed tomography (Nano-CT scan) for digital rock physics studies of pores network with traditional imaging techniques such as SEM, Cathodoluminescence, light and ultra-violet microscopy. Other methods employed include MICP, NMR, fluid inclusion, and stable isotope geochemistry. He has also presented at numerous international conferences such as IPTC, EAGE International conference, and SEPM carbonate research conference.

Abdulquadri is a recipient of several scholarships including receiving twice the prestigious PTDF OSS scholarship (2023; 2018) from the Nigerian Government, the Hellen Devitt Jones Fellowship (2021) from Texas Tech University, and the ENI Postgraduate scholarship (2018). He is also a recipient of numerous awards including 3rd place AAPG Imperial Barrel Award (2022), best scientific concept at the 24-hour innovation challenge in PAU, France (2018), and Dean’s prize for being the best graduating student in both the Department of Applied Geology and Faculty of Earth and Mineral Science (SEMS), FUTA in 2016.

Abdulquadri currently works as a geologist with British Petroleum (BP) where he integrates geological and geophysical datasets to understand subsurface structures and assess risk and uncertainty across different regions with a focus mainly on reservoir development and management, reservoir modeling, sedimentology, and stratigraphy. Before this, he worked as an exploration geologist with Minestake Technologies Ltd and has also interned with other international oil companies such as Total Energies where he worked on Pore Pressure Prediction in Niger Delta HPHT environments within an integrated subsurface and operation team.

Abdulquadri is a Fellow of the Geological Society of London and actively participates in organizations such as the American Association of Petroleum Geologists (AAPG), the Society of Petroleum Engineers (SPE), the European Association of Geoscientists and Engineers (EAGE), and the Nigerian Association of Petroleum Explorationists (NAPE).
