Biography

Abouzied earned his BSc in Mechanical Power Engineering from the University of Al-Fateh in Tripoli, Libya graduating top of his class. He then completed the MSc in Thermal Power & Fluids Engineering at the University of Manchester where his thesis focused on harnessing thermoacoustic instability to develop a prototype thermoacoustic refrigrator. He stayed on at the University of Manchester to develop a novel numerical model for fluid-sturture interaction using SPH and a vector-based discrete element model as part of his PhD. He then moved to industry as a computational fluid and structural mechanics consultant with Wilde Analysis LTD before returning to the University of Manchester to continue his research developing a novel high-order accurate SPH model for fluid mechanics.
