Adeyemi Adelekan is a researcher at the Tyndall Centre for Climate Change Research, focusing on the development, establishment, and scaling of circular business models. His work spans organizational strategies in social enterprises and system-level co-creation of circular business models in multi-stakeholder settings, drawing extensively on theories of organization and institutions.
Previously, Adeyemi explored the development of innovative circular business models in the UK plastics sector through the "One Bin to Rule Them All" project, a £1.5M NERC-funded collaboration led by The University of Manchester. He has conducted research on circular economy strategies in social enterprises, with his work on circular business models spanning both Global North and Global South contexts.
Currently, his business model research extends from plastics to the construction sector. Adeyemi serves as a Researcher Co-Investigator in BuildZero, a £6 million multi-stakeholder project exploring how the circular economy can meet the UK’s building needs with zero new material extractions, zero emissions, and zero waste.
Adeyemi shares the findings of his research through peer-reviewed publications, policy commentaries, presentations at local and international conferences, workshops, seminars, podcasts, and blogs.
He holds an MBA with Distinction from Salford Business School and a BSc (Hons) in Communications Technology from the National Open University of Nigeria. He is also a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy.
Leveraging his diverse professional expertise in business management, administration, and IT, Adeyemi directs a technical support platform that organizes impact-focused workshops for African social entrepreneurs. He also provides consultancy services to early-stage entrepreneurs organizing for sustainability in Africa and the UK.
