Adeyemi Adelekan is part of the Tyndall Centre for Climate Change Research, working with Professor Mike Shaver, Dr Maria Sharmina and Dr Helen Holmes on business model innovation for the ‘One Bin to rule them all’ project, which is a £1.5M NERC-funded collaborative venture, led by The University of Manchester alongside 17 companies and local and national authorities.
Previously, he worked on a doctoral research project with the Centre for Enterprise and Economic Development Research (CEEDR), Middlesex University London looking at the circular economy strategies of social enterprises in Lagos Nigeria. This research explored how such organizations are organizing to meet commercial, social and environmental objectives and their efforts to change the institutions within which they operate to establish circular principles. Results from this research also fed into the political and organisational dimensions of sustainable prosperity work at the Centre for Understanding Sustainable Prosperity (CUSP), an ESRC funded international research organization based in Surrey.
Adeyemi holds an MBA from Salford Business School and a BSc in Communications Technology from the National Open University of Nigeria. He has professional experience that spans across business management, administration, IT and business consulting. His areas of research interest include alternative discourses in organisations, economy and development, with special interest in social enterprises, hybrid organizing, institutional work, circular economy and sustainable development. His work has so far been disseminated through workshops, blogs, local meetings and international events such as Dresden Nexus, EMES and ISIRC conferences.
