My research interests lie in the mathematical modelling of physical systems, specifically plasticity in metals. I want to use innovative mathematical theories like discrete exterior calculus (DEC) to find discrete formulations of established continuum theories or other, new models. At the moment I am researching how DEC can be jointly applied with stochastic methods to dislocation dynamics and to the formation of adiabatic shear bands.
