Dr
Akbar is an economist specialising in applied health and labour economics. He holds a PhD in Economics from the University of Leicester. His research examines the impact of health on labour market outcomes, pay and retention in the adult social care workforce, and the cost-effectiveness of mental health interventions. He has published and/or has work under review in leading journals, including The Lancet, The Lancet Psychiatry, Oxford Economic Papers, and the Journal of Health Economics.
