Akinloluwa is a PhD student in the Department of Mechanical, Aerospace, and Civil Engineering at the University of Manchester. His work revolves around the convergence of immersive technologies (ImTs), occupational safety and health (OSH), and their application within the construction industry. Specifically, he is developing an ImT-based health training platform for construction workers, with the goal of mitigating manual handling risks that often lead to musculoskeletal disorders.

His educational background is diverse, encompassing a Master of Science in Information and Technology from Leeds Beckett University and a Bachelor of Science in Electronic & Electrical Engineering from Obafemi Awolowo University, Nigeria. He is currently pursuing a PhD in Engineering Management at the University of Manchester.

The trajectory of his academic contributions is marked by eight impactful publications in leading Q1 journals, prestigious peer-reviewed conferences, and peer-reviewed book chapters. His research covers a spectrum of topics, prominently featuring data analytics and digital transformation in OSH management. One notable project involved the production of an industry report for a seven-month EPSRC-IAA research initiative, where he served as a Research Associate. Titled "Machine Learning Powered Safety Leading Indicators for Enhancing Safety Performance in high-risk Industries," the report aided the client company in identifying key safety leading indicators, significantly improving OSH performance in high-risk industries.

To contribute to a wider research community, he secured a £1,920 grant in 2023 from the University of Manchester's Open Research Accelerator Fund. This grant facilitated the creation of an open research implementation framework, providing guidance for engineering postgraduate students navigating open research throughout their academic journey. Additionally, he served on the scientific committee for esteemed conferences, such as the 2023 International Council for Research and Innovation in Building and Construction (CIB) Annual Conference on Digital Transformation of Health and Safety in Construction. This involvement enabled him to contribute to the rigorous peer-review process, ensuring the quality and relevance of academic discourse.

Recognising the importance of knowledge dissemination, he has extended his research pursuits to the realm of teaching. As a Graduate Teaching Assistant throughout his PhD studies, he has shared knowledge in subjects such as data analytics, research methods, and mathematical modelling. He has also been awarded Fellow of Advance HE (FHEA) which is in recognition of achievement against the UK Professional Standards Framework (UKPSF) for teaching and supporting learning in higher education.
