Personal profile

Overview

I am a doctoral researcher in Science, Technology and Innovation Policy at Alliance Manchester Business School with a research focus on Intellectual Property (IP), technology contracting, start-ups and venture capital funding. My research is of an interdisciplinary nature, combining legal insights with those of business & management.

Biography

Before joining AMBS, I worked as an International Trade and IP lawyer, with a focus on IP negotiations at bilateral and multilateral levels. At a bilateral level, I negotiated IP matters on behalf of Chile for several Free Trade Agreements (FTAs), including Chile-European Union, Chile-Pacific Alliance, and Chile-EFTA States (Norway, Iceland, Liechtenstein and Switzerland) with emphasis in geographical indications (GIs), trademarks and patents. On a multilateral level, I was the Chilean focal point at the IPEG (IP Experts Group) of APEC  (the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation) and I represented Chile at different World Intellectual Property Organizations (WIPO) Committees held in Geneva, including the Committee on Development and IP, the Standing Committee on the Law of Trademarks, Industrial Designs and GIs and the Standing Committee on the Law of Patents. In the private sector, I have worked in consultancy roles regarding IP, Technology contracting and IP-linked business strategies.
