Alex’s research interests focus mainly on End-of-Life Law, the legitimacy of ethically contentious medical interventions, the regulation of health care professionals via the criminal law and the law and ethics of cosmetic surgery. Alex has recently collaborated on 2 edited books: The Legitimacy of Medical Treatment: What Role for the Medical Exception? (Routledge 2015), and Pioneering Heathcare Law: Essays in honour of Margaret Brazier, (Routledge 2015), as well as co-editing a special edition of the Medical Law Review on ‘Proper Medical Treatment and Conscientious Objection’, (2015).
Alexandra Mullock (LLB (Hons), PGCE, LLM, PhD) is a Senior Lecturer in Medical Law who joined the School of Law in 2011 after completing her PhD at Manchester (2008-2011) as part of the AHRC project on the Impact of the Criminal Law on Health Care Practice and Ethics. Previously, Alex worked as a sixth form teacher for several years and she also has experience of legal practice in personal injury and family matters.
