Personal profile


I'm interested in the cultural and intellectual history of Modern Britain. I'm currently working on a monograph on the New Left.




I'm originally from South Lanarkshire in Scotland. I did my undergraduate degree at the University of Cambridge and did my MPhil and PhD there too, both funded by the AHRC. Before coming to Manchester I was a Lecturer at the University of Cambridge and the University of Aberdeen.
