Alina Spanuth is a Lecturer (Assistant Professor) in Entrepreneurship at the Alliance Manchester Business School. Her research focuses on social entrepreneurship, social entrepreneurial ecosystems, organizing in marginality, and the inclusion of marginalized groups. Thereby, she uses qualitative methodology to explore unique phenomena and forms of organizing. Prior, she held a postdoctoral position at the Université Libre de Bruxelles (ULB), studying governance mechanisms in urban commons, where she was part of the CEBRIG research group at ULB and CIRTES at UCLouvain. Alina Spanuth completed her PhD at the Universitat Autónoma de Barcelona where she defended her dissertation in 2021 on legitimacy strategies of social enterprises in the institutional context of developing countries, for which she spend several months in Nepal to collect novel qualitative data and collaborate with local researchers. Next to her academic accomplishments, Alina Spanuth has 6+ years of experience in the private sector by working in Tech Start-ups and multinational cooperations in Germany.
