Biography

Alyson Williams, B.Sc (Hons) York (1987), Ph.D., Sheffield (2000). Both first and second degrees in Psychology. Joined the National Confidential Inquiry into Suicide and Homicide by People with Mental Illness, in the Centre for Mental Health and Safety, in June 2004 as Deputy Project Manager. Since February 2015, Research Fellow as part of the Centre's Offender Health research team led by Professor Jenny Shaw.  

Research interests

Suicide and homicide by individuals in recent contact with mental health services; the timing of suicide in the general population; mental health in the prison population and interventions to improve outcomes for prisoners on release.
