Personal profile

Overview

I am a qualitative researcher with the Social Care and Society research group at the University of Manchester, currently pursuing a PhD in Mental Health funded by the National Institute for Health and Care Research (NIHR). The research explores the well-being of social work professionals, with a specific focus on experiences of moral injury to inform evidence-based support strategies.

Biography

I graduated with First Class Honours in Psychology from the University of Sheffield in 2018. Following this, I joined the Social Development Research Group at the University of Manchester as a Research Administrator. I worked on several Randomised Controlled Trials in the field of neurodevelopmental disabilities.

Subsequently, I worked on the SECURE study as a Research Assistant, investigating the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic on the adult social care sector in Greater Manchester. During this period, I was awarded a Pre-doctoral Research Fellowship from the NIHR. This fellowship supported completion of a Master of Research (MRes) in Health and Social Care, achieving Distinction.

In 2024, I was awarded a Doctoral Research Fellowship from the NIHR to undertake a PhD in Mental Health. This PhD project aims to further explore moral injury in social workers, clarifying the concept, exploring morally injurious situations, and identifying strategies to enhance their resilience and well-being.
