Dr, PhD, MSc, BSc

Personal profile

Amin Deyranlou received all his degrees in Mechanical Engineering. He obtained his BSc and MSc degrees from the Ferdowsi University of Mashhad. In September 2017, Amin moved to Manchester to pursue a PhD in Mechanical Engineering at the Department of Mechanical, Aerospace, and Civil Engineering (MACE) at the University of Manchester (UoM). During his PhD, Amin was financially supported by the university through a prestigious President’s Doctoral Scholarship award, and finally, he finished his PhD in March 2021.

Thereafter, he was appointed as a Research Fellow in the Department of Medical Physics and Biomedical Engineering at University College London (UCL). Amin worked for two years at UCL and Wellcome/EPSRC Centre for Interventional and Surgical Sciences (WEISS) between March 2021 and April 2023. During his service at UCL, he was working as a Senior Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) Modeller in cardiovascular flows. Moreover, during that time, Amin was appointed as a visiting researcher at Royal Free London NHS Foundation Trust. In April 2023, Amin returned to the UoM as a Research Associate to conduct CFD and Heat Transfer projects.

Amin’s main area of research is CFD, Biofluid Mechanics, Bioengineering, and Cardiovascular Flows. His research outputs have been published in high-quality journal articles and presented at local and international conferences and symposiums. Furthermore, he has extensive experience in collaborating with different industrial sectors to accomplish consultancy projects. Within these years the projects were financially supported by different organisations and through different schemes, such as industrial funds, British Heart Foundation (BHF), EPSRC, etc. In addition to the research, Amin has solid experience in teaching different modules in the area of solid and fluid mechanics. Thermodynamics, Fluid Mechanics, Modelling and Simulation, Design & Structure, and Programming.
